Loving Ruby on Rails
Written by admin on July 13, 2008 – 8:00 am -I’m really liking Ruby and Rails development. I have been working through some rails books the last few weeks along with evaluating various php frameworks and at this point I have to say that Rails kicks the snot out of anything else so far. phpCake is a close second. I also found Netbeans to be my editor of choice. Coming from a .net world where we have had some amazing editors that I often took for granted, I found it hard to find a good editor for php and rails, but Netbeans is amazing so far and I am quite impressed.

Ruby On Rails with OSX Leopard
Written by jabull on June 25, 2008 – 9:32 am -Apple has magically done it again. I have been looking at moving much of our website structure off of the .net platform and on to php or similar and nearly forgot to look into Rails. I toyed with Rails a couple of years ago but didn’t have any projects that werent already on another platform at the time but it looked pretty good even then. After working with asp.net so long, I admit that php looked a bit clumsy to me but I have been forging ahead with trying different frameworks. This week I began looking at Ruby on Rails again and I must say that I’m impressed and I truly love the OOP nature of it. CakePHP has done a pretty good job of mimicking ROR with the scaffolding so it’s not out of the running, but I really like what I am finding with Rails so far as I work through some of the samples.
