Seeking God for our City (Day 23)

Seeking God to grant repentance from our violent ways.

“People and animals alike must wear garments of mourning, and everyone must pray earnestly to God. They must turn from their evil ways and stop all their violence. 9 Who can tell? Perhaps even yet God will change his mind and hold back his fierce anger from destroying us.”  -Jonah 3:8-9

“And one of them struck at the high priest’s slave, slashing off his right ear.51 But Jesus said, “No more of this.” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.”  _Luke 22:50-51

PRAY:

  • for Christ to speak to us, as He did to Peter, forbidding us to defend the cause of Christ with violence.
  • for Jesus to touch and heal people wounded by the words or hostilities of Christians.

Seek God for our City (Day 2)

Seeking God to break through our complacency and pride.

And so the Lord says, “These people say they are mine.  They honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me.  And their worship of me is nothing but man-made rules learned by rote.[a]14 Because of this, I will once again astound these hypocrites with amazing wonders.  The wisdom of the wise will pass away, and the intelligence of the intelligent will disappear.”  Isaiah 29:13-14

“Come to Me…Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”  Matthew 11:28-29

We come to You now, as You have summoned us.  Show us Your heart.  Train us in Your humility.

PRAY:

  • for Christ to call many to Himself.
  • for God to intercept our runaway lives so that we can be trained in the way of Christ’s heart.
  • for Christ’s humility to replace deeply-rooted arrogance.
  • for MARRIAGES.  Thank God for solid marriages that reflect His faithfulness and beauty.  Pray especially for marriages that are strained to a breaking point; for those that are failing; that God will bring both hope and help; that He will heal broken hearts and restore intimacy; for every marriage, that God will refresh and recenter homes in Christ.

PRAYERWALK:  Pray (with your spouse if married) near the homes that may need a special touch of God’s healing upon marriages.

Monday 184 Strong

Our task is simple.  According to 2 Chronicles 7:14, the church is required to pray, repent and seek after God.  From there, He hears, forgives and heals!  We desperately need God to heal our nation.  It’s our responsibility, as the body of Christ, to pray in representation for our nation.  Cry out to God, employer repentance and worship Him with faith!  Join us in a prayer watch at 6am, noon and 6pm daily (Mon-Sat).  We had close to 200 people in attendance this Monday.  Let’s continue this week with strong prayer support.

Look for updates on Pastor Ken’s blog!!!

30 Days of Prayer starting today.

Join us at a prayer watch for the next 30 days at Capital Christian.  The times of prayer are 6am, noon and 6pm Monday-Saturday.

Here are a few prayer focuses for the week:

1.    Pray for a God idea/solution to come out of this turmoil and confusion.
2.    Pray that President Bush, the White House staff, the Congress, and congressional aides would begin to call out to God in prayer meetings of their own.
3.    Pray for a “Benjamin Franklin like moment” for a God appointed person to step forward and call for divine assistance.
4.    Pray that investors, businesses, banks, and financial institutions would respond in peace and in faith to all the confusing noise coming out of Wall Street, the media, and Capitol Hill.
5.    Pray for the church to arise in pray.
6.    Pray that these events would lead to a revival in America.
