Seek God for our City (Day 22)

Seeking God to intervene for what is true and right.

14 Our courts oppose the righteous,
and justice is nowhere to be found.
Truth stumbles in the streets,
and honesty has been outlawed.
15 Yes, truth is gone,
and anyone who renounces evil is attacked.

The Lord looked and was displeased
to find there was no justice.
16 He was amazed to see that no one intervened
to help the oppressed.
So he himself stepped in to save them with his strong arm,
and his justice sustained him.  -Isaiah 59:14-16

PRAY:

  • for God to save lost neighbors, family members and friends.
  • for God to save His people from lies, delusion and selfishness.
  • for Jesus to restore that which has been lost in our cities.

Seeking God for our City (Day 8)

Seeking God to renew our passion to worship.

“But may all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; may those who love Your salvation always say, “Let God be exalted!” - Psalm 70:4

PRAY:

  • for Christians to be empowered by the Holy Spirit to worship with joy.
  • for believers who struggle with depression to be renewed with the joy that filled Jesus.
  • for God to be acknowledged and honored by government and market leaders.

Seek God for our City (Day 2)

Seeking God to break through our complacency and pride.

And so the Lord says, “These people say they are mine.  They honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me.  And their worship of me is nothing but man-made rules learned by rote.[a]14 Because of this, I will once again astound these hypocrites with amazing wonders.  The wisdom of the wise will pass away, and the intelligence of the intelligent will disappear.”  Isaiah 29:13-14

“Come to Me…Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”  Matthew 11:28-29

We come to You now, as You have summoned us.  Show us Your heart.  Train us in Your humility.

PRAY:

  • for Christ to call many to Himself.
  • for God to intercept our runaway lives so that we can be trained in the way of Christ’s heart.
  • for Christ’s humility to replace deeply-rooted arrogance.
  • for MARRIAGES.  Thank God for solid marriages that reflect His faithfulness and beauty.  Pray especially for marriages that are strained to a breaking point; for those that are failing; that God will bring both hope and help; that He will heal broken hearts and restore intimacy; for every marriage, that God will refresh and recenter homes in Christ.

PRAYERWALK:  Pray (with your spouse if married) near the homes that may need a special touch of God’s healing upon marriages.

Seek God for Our City 2009 (DAY 1)

Seek God to bring lasting revival in our city.

Psalm 85:6-9 “Won’t you revive us again, so your people can rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation. I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people. But let them not return to their foolish ways. Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, so our land will be filled with his glory.”

Luke 1:76-78 “And you, my little son, will be called the prophet of the Most High, because you will prepare the way for the Lord. You will tell his people how to find salvation through forgiveness of their sins. Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us..”

PRAY:

  • for God to bring a tender but powerful conviction of sin, exposing sin in the hope that we will be set free from its power.
  • for God to send His people as forerunners, bringing hope that God will visit entire communities in reviving power.
  • for people in their teens to radically commit their lives to Christ; to make wise choices; for older mentors; for solid friendships with their peers who are following Jesus; for open communication with parents; for God’s intentions for their generation to come forth in fullest measure.

Psalm 144: 12 May our sons flourish in their youth like well-nurtured plants. May our daughters be like graceful pillars, carved to beautify a palace.

God of this city

The song written by Chris Tomlin, “God of this city” harmonizes with our prayer this week.  During our noon prayer time on Tuesday the Holy Spirit directed us to pray over the city of Meridian and surrounding cities in our valley.  Throughout the entire week the direction of prayer has involved intercession for individuals, families, businesses, campuses, communities & leaders.  We have been calling in the harvest from the north, south, east & west!  Please join us today at noon for a time of prayer, either at Capital Christian or where ever you may be today.  Take a moment to pause in prayer for the city you live in!  God is not finished.  His word will be completed in our city!  DON’T forget to join us for pre-service prayer Saturday at 415pm & Sunday at 815am.  Let’s have an attitude of Faith!

“Greater things have yet to come
Great things are still to be done
In this city
Where glory shines from hearts alive
With praise for you and love for you
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
Great things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things are still to come
And greater things are still to be done here”  -Chris Tomlin-

Noon Prayer

For the next two weeks we will be hosting Noon prayer from 12-1pm Monday through Friday.  Join us as we intercede for people throughout the Treasure Valley!  We’re believing this season to be a season of miracles.  God gave us the greatest gift of all, eternal life through Jesus Christ!  It is our passion to see countless individuals, families, etc recieve the same gift!  Show up full of faith and ready to participate in a time of worship and corporate prayer!

After thoughts

After two years of constant news about the candidates running for President, we are now free from the incessant sound bites.  What do we do now?  We go on living our lives as we always should—loving God, loving our family, loving our nation.  As believers we should always seek first the kingdom of God.  How do we do that?  By participating in all the spiritual disciplines of normal Christianity.  Let’s make Christianity attractive by returning to a passionate relationship with Christ.  Far too many Christians just live a dutiful, apathetic, boring life and don’t ever fully realize that we are here as agents of God to bring the life and hope of God to the earth.  Read more and check out video updates from the Phillipines.

Day After

One day after the election and everyone has an opinion and everyone has a reaction.  My response is first of all—when I got up this morning God was still in charge; the kingdom of God is still intact; the church is still the instrument of God to be salt and light to the world.  We tend to put too much emotion and energy into the results of political decisions.  Every four years we get the privilege of choosing our president and as I have said before that is one of the most sacred things that our founding fathers left to us.  We should work with all of our heart to get those elected who represent our biblical world-view.  But once they are elected they are our leaders and must respected as such.  Our role as believers never changes.  We are still to be actively involved in our primary responsibility, which is the Great Commission.  No matter who becomes president our role still remains the same…more
