Looking back on the week by Pastor Ken

As we concluded last week and the completion of our 17 prayer watches and praying for each individual state, I was struck by God’s love for each of these states and His profound love for every single person.  God deeply desires to heal our nation so that people will not have to endure such terrible life situations at the hands of the enemy.  After watching almost a thousand people attend these seventeen prayer watches, I was also moved by people’s commitment to prayer when asked.  It has been a most profound week as we all have set aside time to prayer as a local church body together three times a day and believe that it will make a difference in our nation…(read more)

A note from Pastor Ken

Wednesday Oct 15

6A: Connecticut

NOON: Delaware

6P: Florida

We started our 21 day corporate Daniel prayer strategy yesterday in which I asked everyone in the church to choose a prayer watch either morning, noon, or night where we would be praying for each state leading up to the election over the course of the next three weeks.  The results were outstanding.  We began the day at 6am with 54 people in attendance and then ended up the day with 184 total people in the three prayer watches today.  There was an incredible sense of God’s presence during the day as it continued to build as we kept praying.  I also sensed real faith in the people as we started out praying and repenting for the sins of the nation, praying for prodigals, and praying for needs within our own families and community.  Then we prayed for three states; Alabama, Alaska, and Arizona. This time seemed to be especially effective as we bombarded heaven for the sake of each state believing that they will all experience a revival leading to reformation.

It was interesting that our full-fledged prayer assault began on a day that saw the greatest one-day rally on Wall Street in its history and also just happens to be Columbus Day, the day we celebrate the discovery of America.  Prayer changes things.  My hope is not just that we pray the stock market back to normalcy but that we pray and see America return to a nation that honors God.  I believe that the next 20 days could be a major factor in creating an atmosphere where God could once again visit America.
Come join us each day at 6am, noon, or 6pm for a time of prayer and adventure as we continue our 21 day prayer journey.

Monday 184 Strong

Our task is simple.  According to 2 Chronicles 7:14, the church is required to pray, repent and seek after God.  From there, He hears, forgives and heals!  We desperately need God to heal our nation.  It’s our responsibility, as the body of Christ, to pray in representation for our nation.  Cry out to God, employer repentance and worship Him with faith!  Join us in a prayer watch at 6am, noon and 6pm daily (Mon-Sat).  We had close to 200 people in attendance this Monday.  Let’s continue this week with strong prayer support.

Look for updates on Pastor Ken’s blog!!!

Model-Schedule-Diet

DANIEL PRAYER MODEL

1. Come to God with Thanksgiving.
2. Come to God with Praise.
3. Pray the Daniel Prayer out of Daniel 9:4-19 (Paraphrased by Pastor Ken Wilde)

VS. 4—I pray to you O Lord my God, for you are a great and awesome God, who keeps Your covenant and mercy with those who love You , and with those who keep Your commandments.
Vs. 5—For we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and judgments.
Vs 6—Neither have we heeded your prophets and preachers, who spoke in Your name to our leaders and government officials, to our fathers, families, and individuals across America.
Vs 7—O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face to the men and women of America, to the leaders in Washington, D.C., and all Americans around the world, because of our unfaithfulness to You.
Vs 8—O Lord, You have brought shame to us because we have sinned against You.
Vs 9—To the Lord our God belongs mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against You.
Vs. 10—We have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in Your laws, which You set before us by Your servants and by Your Word.
Vs.11—Yes, all America has transgressed Your law and turned aside not obeying Your voice. So the curse has been poured out on us that was written in Your Word by Moses, because as a nation we have sinned against You.
Vs.12 –-Your words are confirmed against us. The words He spoke against us the people and our rulers to bring on us a great calamity.
Vs.13— As it is written in the Law of Moses (Deuteronomy 12) all of this calamity has come on us yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our iniquity and giving attention to Your truth.
Vs.14— The Lord has watched over each and every evil done to every individual and brought calamity upon us. The Lord is righteous in His deeds. He has warned us what would happen if we did not repent and turn from our sin and iniquity.
Vs.15— Lord God You have been so good to us. In America you have given us a good land and a wonderful country. Not only have we failed You but we have failed our founding fathers and Constitution. “We have sinned and have been wicked, please, forgive us, we the people of this nation”.
Vs.16— Lord, in accordance with Your righteous acts, let now Your anger and Your wrath turn away from Washington DC for because of our sins and the iniquities of our fathers, Washington DC and America have become a reproach to the nations of the world.
Vs.17— Please God, listen to the prayers of your people. Please hear our prayers and supplications. Please let Your face shine in our prayer sanctuaries, churches, and hearts of believers across the land.
Vs.18— We admonish You Lord, incline your ear and hear our prayers. Open your eyes and see the desolations that are about to come upon Washington, DC, America and its people. We have been a nation that is called by Your Name (the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob). Lord, be with us and save our nation, our people, and our land. We know it is not because of our own merit but because of your great mercy and compassion.
Vs.19— Hear O Lord, please forgive us as a nation and people. Please Lord, listen and take action. For our sake, please do not delay because Washington, DC and the American people call upon Your Name.

4. Continue to pray prayers of personal and national repentance.
5. Pray over the selected States.
6. Repent for the State’s sins.
7. Pray over each Congressional District—God’s will, God’s purpose, God’s person in office.
8. Pray these specific prayers:

  • Nationally pray that the person of righteousness, the person of God’s choosing, would be selected in every congressional district, every senate race and also for the office of President and Vice-President. Proverbs 14:34–Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a disgrace to any people.

  • At the state and local levels pray that the person of righteousness, the person of God’s choosing, would be selected in every elected office. Proverbs 29:2—When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.

  • Pray that each person voting will be convicted to vote for the person of righteousness, the person of God’s choosing, in each elected office and in each ballot initiative. Pray for God’s Presence to overshadow each person as they make their decision. Isaiah 11:2-3—The Spirit of the Lord will be upon him – the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord – and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears.

  • Pray that every official involved in the election process would serve with honesty and integrity of heart. Proverbs 11:1—The Lord abhors dishonest scales, but accurate weights are his delight.

  • Pray that God would empower intercessors and people across the nation and around the world to call out to Him day and night in extraordinary prayer during this season. Zechariah 12:10—And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a Spirit of grace and supplication.

  • Pray that the Church would be fully awakened, engaged and empowered during this critical season. Pray that we would understand the urgency and importance of this election and the implications for the advancement of God’s purposes in our nation and around the world. Isaiah 9:7—The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

  • Pray that God’s plans and purposes for our nation would be established during this election season. Pray that we would be a nation who follows God and is a blessing to the nations of the earth. Matthew 6:10— Your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

9. Spiritual Warfare:
Pray that the Cabal (an evil plotting force) over America be broken.
Pray prayers of victory over the enemy.

11. Close by praying a prayer of covering.
Pray and appropriate the blood of Jesus.

Colossians 1:20—and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
Pray that you will be hidden in Christ.
Colossians 3:3—For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

DIET-

Daniel Fast or Daniel Diet

We believe that Daniel’s Diet will help you experience healing and more of the power of prayer.
You will find this fast very helpful to you for physical and spiritual breakthrough. Some practical advantages to fasting like Daniel include: re-evaluating your life, identifying with those who are poor, losing weight, worshipping God, breaking bad habits, growing closer to God, family and friends, learning self-control, purifying your body and soul, and repenting of sin.

The Christian’s body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. 1 Co 6:19 “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, whom you have of God? And you are not your own.” Therefore, we must take good care of our bodies. Many common diseases are easily prevented with good nutrition and exercise.

Caution! The Daniel Fast Diet like any other fast can create problems for people with medical conditions, pregnant, nursing and/or taking medicine. Consult your doctors and/or pharmacist before starting any fast. Ask them about your medication while fasting.

Guidelines for a Daniel Fast or Daniel’s Diet in 2008

1. Be specific

Daniel was very clear in his objection to the Babylonian diet. He defined his objection immediately.Daniel 1:8

  • The king’s food was likely not kosher, against Jewish dietary laws.

  • Daniel and his friends had vowed against wine.

  • The king’s food could have been offered up to idols or demons.

Write out and sign a commitment that outlines

  • Why you are fasting.

  • How long you are fasting.

  • From what you are fasting.

2. Fast as a spiritual commitment

The Daniel Fast involves a spiritual commitment to God. “Daniel proposed in his heart that he would not defile himself.” Daniel 1:8

Ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance!

3. Reflect inner desire by external discipline

Most people desire better health, but don’t discipline themselves to say no to junk food, and other unhealthy foods. Our physical health is more than answered prayer. Our physical health is normally linked to many of these factors:

•Your food choices.
•The level of your spiritual commitment, as reflected in constant prayer during the diet of Daniel and his friends.
•Your time commitment. If you determine to fast for a certain time, keep it. For example, if you determine to fast ten days, don’t stop on day nine.
•Your testimony commitment. Your fast is a statement of faith in God. You want God to heal your body. Faith is foundational to the Daniel Fast.

4. Pray to see the role of sin in your relative health or sickness

“Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
James 5:13-17 NKJV

5. Daniel Fasted as a statement of faith to others

Daniel made a statement of faith when he asked to eat only vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then Daniel asked the overseer to compare the appearance of the 4 sons of Israel with the other people who ate the king’s food.

6. Learn the effects of the food you eat

What makes some food good for us? What makes other food bad for our bodies? What are the negative effects of foods do to our bodies? If we answer these questions, there would certainly be some foods we would never want to eat again.

7. Yield all results to God

Daniel said, “as you see fit, deal with your servants.” Daniel 1:13
We don’t know if Daniel or his friends ever again ate the king’s food.

Daniel Fast Diet Guidelines

1. You have freedom in this Daniel Fast to modify it according to your personal physical and spiritual needs. You can modify these guidelines as you feel led by the Lord. If you feel that it would be more productive for you spiritually or physically to avoid certain foods or spices, that would be great. If you feel led by the Lord to eat only vegetables and drink only water, then do so!

2. The main thing is to decide ahead of time how you are going to apply the Daniel Fast. Then stick to your commitment for the length of time you have decided to fast. Some people feel that it is good to make a permanent lifestyle change to the Daniel Fast. Daniel didn’t do his “fast” for a limited amount of time. It was his lifestyle. Daniel asked for permission to avoid the kings delicacies over a ten day period. Then, if he was still healthy looking, he could continue his “diet.”

3. Daniel’s reason for his “diet” are given in Daniel 1:8 The Message Bible

But Daniel determined that he would not defile himself by eating the king’s food or drinking his wine, so he asked the head of the palace staff to exempt him from the royal diet.”

Daniel Fast foods to eat

Daniel seemed to eat only things planted for harvest and drank only water. You may want to keep it simple and eat only vegetables and drink only water. If in doubt about a certain kind of food, read the guidelines.

* Whole Grains: brown rice, oats, rolled oats, oatmeal, barley, corn, popcorn, wheat
* Legumes: dried beans, pinto beans, split peas, lentils, black eyed peas, green beans, green peas, peanuts, etc. Grain legumes include beans, lentils, lupins, peas and peanuts.
* Fruits: apples, apricots, avocados, bananas, berries, blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, breadfruit, cantaloupe, cherries, coconuts, cranberries, dates, figs, grapefruit, grapes, grenadine, guava, honeydew melons, kiwi, lemons, limes, mangoes, melons, mulberry, nectarines, oats, olives, oranges, papayas, peaches, pears, pineapples, plums, prunes, raisins, raspberries, strawberries, tangelos, tangerines, watermelon, etc.,
* Vegetables: artichokes, asparagus, beets, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chili peppers, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, garlic, gingerroot, kale, leeks, lettuce, mushrooms, mustard greens, okra, onions, parsley, any peppers, any potatoes, radishes, rutabagas, scallions, spinach, sprouts, squashes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, turnips, watercress, yams, zucchini, etc.
* Seeds: all nuts, natural peanut butter, natural almond butter, sprouts, ground flax, etc.
* Liquids: spring water, distilled water, filtered water, 100% all natural fruit or vegetable juices

Daniel fast or diet foods to avoid

Basically, you want to avoid the King’s food. Some might sum it up to say that you shouldn’t have the King’s Burgers or fries. You should probably avoid the golden arches as well. However, many fast food restaurants now have good salads. We often eat ours with salt for dressing.

To avoid the king’s food means that we are definitely avoiding all those things that the Jews couldn’t eat. We’re also avoiding foods that only royalty in ancient days could afford. It wasn’t until recent history that most Americans could afford to eat meat or poultry. Today, in most of the world, very few people can afford to eat any kind of meat or processed foods, like the foods in this list.

* Meat, because Daniel didn’t want to take the chance of eating non-kosher meat and/or meat that was offered to idols.
* white flour and all products using it
* white rice, white bread, hominy and pasta
* fried foods
* caffeine
* carbonated beverages, including diet sodas
* Wine or any other alcoholic drinks
* foods containing preservatives or additives
* refined sugar
* high fructose corn syrup
* chemical sugar substitutes
* margarine, shortening, animal fat, high fat products

A Call to Prayer

Noon prayer

  1. This is a commitment to prayer at noon for at least five minutes each day of the week.
  2. Noon prayer was a vital element of every major revival and awakening since 1727.
  3. Great Britain under the leadership of Winston Churchill called for noon prayer during World War II to stave off the German air assault on London and England.
  4. The Naval Academy has had noon prayer since 1864.

Daniel Prayer

  1. This is a commitment to prayer three times a day as modeled by Daniel in the book of Daniel.
  2. Daniel 6:10—Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home.  And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.
  3. We have established corporate times three times a day for the next 30 days in our church prayer room.  Each member was encouraged to choose one of those times to come to the church and join in prayer for the nation.

Sacred Assembly

  1. At the end of the 30 days we are having an all church meeting to join together in repentance, prayer, worship, communion, and celebration of God and his answers to prayer.
  2. I would encourage every believer, pastor, and church to adopt a strategy of prayer at least through the election and even through the end of the year.  These are not normal times.  They could even be what the Bible calls “perilous times”.  And since the Lord has called His church a “House of Prayer” I believe that it is more than an option to step out in strategic and earth shaking prayer.  God will not act unless we pray.
  3. Isaiah 64:4– …Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, who acts for the one who waits for Him.

Prayer points:
1.    Pray for a national revival leading to reformation.
2.    Pray for a solution to the present financial crisis.
3.    Pray for godly leaders to be placed into office in November’s election.
4.    Pray that the church would arise as a clarion voice of righteous sanity.
5.    Pray that the church would experience a renewed call to prayer.
6.    Pray for a harvest of souls.
7.    Pray for a movement of the Holy Spirit among the young people of America and the nations of the world.

May you experience a renewed encounter with the living God as you pursue prayer to our God.

30 Days of Prayer starting today.

Join us at a prayer watch for the next 30 days at Capital Christian.  The times of prayer are 6am, noon and 6pm Monday-Saturday.

Here are a few prayer focuses for the week:

1.    Pray for a God idea/solution to come out of this turmoil and confusion.
2.    Pray that President Bush, the White House staff, the Congress, and congressional aides would begin to call out to God in prayer meetings of their own.
3.    Pray for a “Benjamin Franklin like moment” for a God appointed person to step forward and call for divine assistance.
4.    Pray that investors, businesses, banks, and financial institutions would respond in peace and in faith to all the confusing noise coming out of Wall Street, the media, and Capitol Hill.
5.    Pray for the church to arise in pray.
6.    Pray that these events would lead to a revival in America.
