Celebrating with family and friends, we honored the lives of our amazing Capital Interns! I want to congratulate each student, enrolled in our program, for his or her tireless example of faith, hope and love. It is truly an amazing privilege to watch first hand the transformation of God in the hearts of people. We are blessed, here at Generation Church Boise, in being able to host a dynamic, local church, leaders/spiritual discipleship program year after year. Thank you to our Senior Pastor Ken & Connie Wilde, CCC Staff, Dr. Stan Fleming, Dr. Bill Graybill & Dr. Jack Kaufman for your influence and continual support! Together, as a team, we are making a difference and witnessing the power of God impact our world.

This year has been amazing! I cannot believe that we are four weeks from completion. The year has been filled with challenge, victory and redemptive stories. I love hearing that our “fav 5’s” are meeting Jesus! Hope restored. Lives changed. Please join us June 14th at 6pm to honor our Capital Interns at Capital Christian Center, Meridian Idaho. Vision

A trudge of hopelessness, loss and pain leave their mark on the Emmaus road with every step. Silence and mystery loom in the air. Problematic questions void of answers crowd the conversation. Preaching Time

It’s time to put the spiritual disciplines into gear. This week’s lecture time will be spent listening to our Capital Interns as they have prepared brief sermons on text and topic of choice. Prayer, study, fasting, silence and solitude are a few spiritual practices that have been employed. I’m excited to hear what God has prepared in their hearts. I’m ready to shout amen! I’ll post some of their outlined notes at weeks end.

Fasting Silence & Solitude

This month we are focusing our study on spiritual disciplines. Class instructional times will be spent on spiritual disciplines such as fasting, silence, solitude, frugality, service, study, prayer, worship, fellowship, confession, etc. It is our passion to go to a deeper level in our relationship with God. This does not come about by osmosis. Our spiritual maturity takes place when we intently engage the text, prayer, study, worship, etc on a daily basis. This last week we hit on the spiritual practices of fasting, silence and solitude with the aim of focusing less on self and more on God. For some interns, fasting food for three days is a first. Capital Interns…how’s it going? What have been some of your experiences?

Eschatology & Sexual Character…good stuff!

Oh what a fun month! Not only are we approaching the greatest holiday ever (Christmas) but we are involved in two interesting class subjects. Our focus this month is on Eschatology & Sexual Character. I’m not sure how these two topics landed in the same month but how fitting it is! I often prayed a prayer like this as a young lad, “God, please don’t come back until I get married Amen.” The word “married” was code word for sex. Be honest, you probably prayed the same prayer or still pray that prayer currently.

We began a “Sexual Character” series in our YP717 service and I felt it necessary to continue this topic throughout the month with our Capital Interns. It is our responsibility and privilege to live sexually pure and walk in the freedom and fulfillment of God. Coupled with this teaching we are engaged in a challenging course on Eschatology by Dr. Stan Fleming entitled “Servants of the Third Watch”.

Prayer, Praise & Prophecy

Beginning November 12th we will begin a new Capital INTERN study intensive. The primary emphasis of this study is on pursuing God in the areas of prayer, praise, and prophecy. The importance of simply learning to pursue God is the topic of the introductory session, followed by sessions that focus more on aspects of prayer, praise (worship), and prophecy, either distinctly or in conjunction with the others. We will post portions of lecture, so feel free to check back in from time to time.

Chill time

If you were to ask an intern how long they’ve been in Capital Interns they would probably say three months. However, we’ve only been going a little less then a month! From week one until now our Interns have worked tirelessly and passionately from one project and trip to the next! Week one: Encounter & Retreat, Week two: GCb Live, Week three: Early Church History Intensive, Week four: Washington D.C. at the National Prayer Center.

So, this week we’ll have some chill time and prep for our BIG Capital Intern YARD SALE!
