The Jesus Creed
"Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength." (Deuteronomy 6:4-5)
The second is this: "Love your neighbor as yourself." (Leviticus 19:18)
Read- Mark 12:28-33
Hey so today we were using the metro. It was Me, Seth, Kenrick, Joel, Brittain, and Dan. We were all together for most of the time, but me and seth got seperated from the group. So me and seth got off the metro and were looking for our next connection, when we see Britt and Kenrick get on the wrong connection. Me and Seth yelled but it was too late they were gone, and we hadn’t seen any sign of joel or dan. So after having a good laugh Seth and I got on the right connection and headed back to the house. As we were walking up to the house kenrick and britt jumped us hahaha, great stuff. Still no sign of joel and dan… hahaha geez it’s not that hard guys. Haha there is a story for the day.

Britt and i were the first ones to arrive to the airpot today. shortly followed by the “Wright clan” and Sarah.
After we all checked our bags and went through security (surprisingly only three interns set off alarms/were searched/and had items confiscated) we stopped to grab some pizza before jumping on the plane.
To my disappointment i wasn’t seated by anyone in our group. But i have been praying that God would give me opportunities to meet and talk with new people. I was seated by an extremely friendly couple who happened to be flying to Minneapolis (where we were connecting planes to DC) to go see a Twins game for their vacation. We ended up chatting for about an hour about church, interns, and the national prayer center.
When we got off the plane i told them goodbye and wished them well on their vacation. I most likely will never see them again but i hope that a seed was planted of curiosity about christianity.
The flight from Minneapolis to DC was much more casual. I ended up with a seat next to Britt. And we all know that he needs Jesus but i didn’t feel the need to preach to him (laughs)
We ended up taking the metro from the airport to the house we are staying at. It was about a twenty minute ride, definitely an experience. Our host home is two houses down from the National Prayer Center. Its a one bedroom, one bath, with a kitchen. All six of the interns guys are sleeping in bunk beds in our one bedroom, much bonding for sure.
Tomorrow we wake up at seven to get ready to head off to church. Knowing all the people I’m with, there will definitely be a starbucks run before church.
So yesterday when we flew into D.C. around 11 or so?. the interns and I got to take the metro to the NPC.! During that process I decided to go Rambo, mainly because the interns were so loud. I found myself in the front of the the metro train sitting next to a bunch of locals, while the Interns were in the back of the train. I soon noticed the locals looking uncomfortably towards the interns. I realized that we had a common ground. We wanted the interns to simmer down. I then found myself in conversation with the locals, having a great time making fun of that group(interns) with the friendly dcers. I then made a comment “they must be from out of town.” totally looking like was living here, the Dcers agreed. I guess you could say i’m fitting in pretty well here in D.C. I could see myself living here in the near future.
I enjoyed watching Dan take off running with a jogger as he passed by our group. We were all waiting for our tour bus as we watched Dan fade in the distance as he kept pace with the jogger. The bus arrives and as Kirsten and I are sitting in the bus, Dan hops back on with labored breath and says, “he (said jogger) doesn’t believe in God”. Great job Dan! I don’t think that man will ever forget the stranger in jeans running with him for a block or two asking questions about God.
So I know the trip is over but I don’t have a lap top so I couldn’t keep up with times like my buddies. I feel now that is imparitive to leave a few statements because no other girls have. Yes there were girls on the trip too even though we haven’t told our stories…yet.
DC was amazing! I was blessed to come twice in one year and in less than 6 months. My trip a few months back was dramatically different from this one. God’s timing on this trip was amazing. We met with a lot of people who were stretched beyond their limit and were desperate for God. I learned so much and I can’t see life being the same now.
On another note we had so much fun. Sarah, Kyle, and Britt pretended to be foreigners at the zoo. They were very convincing too. I got my official Library of Congress card gaining access to the most beautiful library I have ever seen. I mastered the metro system and managed to lead a group to the mall and then got myself to Arlington a few days later. Larry the tour guide was amazing and I learned the origination of ok. So many good times and so many good stories if you want more just ask.
