The night began with GC’s own little tough man competition, which involved several GC-ers doing one-handed push-ups on stage, in front of EVERYBODY! Vik, Calvin and Beau all tried, but Alex won with a total of three manly push-ups!

From there, pastor Mark jumped right into the next part of the Navigate series and spoke to us about watching our confession. This is especially important for young people, because we will become what we talk about! What we talk about comes from out heart, which is fed through our eyes and even ears. Do we need more pop-culture in us, or more Bible? Obviously more Bible because in the long run, nobody cares who won American Idol, what sports team took which championship, or anything like that, even if it does seem important for a while.

The message was a great one, considering that camp is coming up and that young people should start getting ready to DEPLOY, and have God do something amazing in their lives!

Some old dude once said, “Life’s a journey, not a destination.” Although it might sound cliche, there is truth to this statement. Pastor Mark explained last Wednesday that God is equally interested in the means we take to get somewhere as He is interested in our destination. Life is a process that might seem like it’s beating you up, but we need to understand that our experiences, both positive and negative bear results on our lives. Essentially, life transforms us. To make sure that you’re becoming what God wants you to be, you need to endure, abide, and persevere. Be sure to watch the video and catch more of what God’s saying to GC*B right now!

Most of us have been there. We love a band, play their album over and over and over again, until those who have to hear it every time finally get mad at us and insist that the music stop. We just love them. Then they come to town, we buy tickets, and are stoked out of our minds because you get to see them. With anticipation, we mark days off on the calendar and impatiently daydream about the show. The day arrives, you get your mother to drive you and your friends to the show, and you discover that the lead singer who you’ve admired for months now, really can’t sing. What a letdown!!

Fortunately, tonight was nothing like that! Elliot visited GC*B, and I must say, they rocked the house! The night began in worship, praising and blessing God, which brought us right up to the premier message in our new series, “Navigate”. I must say, this was a message for believers who have been in the church their whole life, as well as those who might have given their life to Christ last week!

After a quick message, and some amazing Holy Spirit time, Elliot got back up and GC*B got to hear many of the songs we’ve been listening to on their CD. They even did a fun cover of Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten”. That was fun! We’ll continue with the new series next Wednesday at 7pm. Prayer starts at 630pm! See ya there!

You are more than you think you are. Not just a skater, more than a jock, and your pretty face doesn’t mean much in the scope of your internal, real self. Paul understood this, and offers and explanation of this in 1 Tim. 1:12-18. He indicates that events, situations, and other external influences did not define him, but rather, Jesus, who changed Paul’s life through the Holy Spirit gave him purpose, and identified him. We can live for God, gain an understanding of who we are through God, and find our purpose in the destiny He has given us.

Wednesday night was a rare treat for GC*B as Pastor Shane preached this message! The video will be posted soon, so check it out if you couldn’t make it, or if you need to fill in your notes a little better. Be sure to be there, next Wednesday, as Pastor Mark will be back, and will be bringin’ a great word that you won’t want to miss!
